The Season Comes To An End
The Truckee softball team lost the second game of their best-of-three playoff series at Spring Creek by the score of 7-3 on Saturday. The Wolverines end their season at 3-17 in league and 7-20 overall. In Saturday's game, the Spartans took a 1-0 lead in the first, then Truckee came back to tie the game in the second when Heather Fisher doubled to left-center, and was driven in by Krysta Murphy's double. The teams held the tie until the bottom of the fourth, when Spring Creek plated six runs on two hits, three free passes and two Wolverine errors to take a 7-1 lead. The top of the fifth didn't start out so well for Truckee either, as Ashley McKechnie was ejected from the game for arguing a third-strike call. But an inspired Wolverine bench got two runs back in the inning when Natalya Jones hit a single and eventually scored on a past ball and Amber Davy walked and was driven in by Miranda Baker. It would not be enough, though, as the Spartans held on to the 7-3 victory.
