Hard Loss

The Wolverines next opponent was Lowry High Buckaroos. They traveled to Winnumucca and unfortunately their first game got rained out. The next day they were scheduled to play a double header. The Truckee varsity softball team dropped both ends of its doubleheader at Lowry on Friday by scores of 12-5 and 13-12. The Wolverines also lost to the Buckaroos Monday, 11-6, and are now 3-12 in Northern 3A league play. Game 2 turned into a slugfest between the league foes. Down 6-2 entering the fourth, singles by Baker and Heather Fisher set the table for Pearson, who sent a two-RBI single to left to draw the Wolverines to within two. Then, with a runner on, Amber Davy drove a two-run home run over the right-field fence to tie the game at six. Kaycie Jones put Truckee up by one after hitting a double and scoring on a Natalya Jones single.Lowry came back with four of their own in the bottom of the fourth, as both teams continued to pound the ball and plate runs.Down by one, 12-11, entering the last inning, Kaycie Jones wasted no time assuring Lowry would have to bat in their half of the frame, as she sent a solo home run to left field to tie up the game. But the Buckaroos would not let up on the Wolverines, scoring the only run they needed in the seventh on two hits and an error to take the 13-12 victory.
